Reduce the Risk of a Wrong Nanny through Four Easy Steps

Most parents feel that once they will find a nanny, their worries will end for childcare. But, this is not the end of worries. It’s just a beginning of fear and threat of getting a wrong person for childcare. It happens due to the pitfalls during hiring process. Majority of parents make the mistakes at every step, from planning to hiring. But, you can correct these mistakes and find the right candidate for the job who can best help you with her childcare services and you can also trust on her for your kids’ safety.
Hire a Nanny
Let’s discuss about some mistakes parents make while hiring a nanny and what you should do to avoid them for finding the perfect and reliable nanny for your children.
  1. Focus on the Job Description: When you post a job requirement, then the description you write, is the mirror of your requirements. So, you should keep it clear and precise and write everything, what your family is looking for. Mention the requirement of childcare, along with all duties you wish to follow in an explained way to remove the chances of any confusion in understanding the job requirement.
  2. Keep your Expectations Realistic & Adequate: When you hire a nanny for childcare, then you should always keep your expectations in a reasonable limit. Expect something unrealistic from the nanny you are hiring can cost you a lot. It could be possible she left the job in middle and you will have to search for the new one urgent for your kids. Kids laundry, clean the area children and she uses, cook food for kids, clean the kitchen after making food, feed children, make children’ bed, etc. are the duties of a nanny which are adequate.
But, if you expect that she will do other household work, such as changing linen, preparing food for family, family laundry, etc., then your expectation are not real and don’t fit with the job of a nanny. If you do so, it can affect the childcare for which you have hired her specifically.

  3. Pay her Right & Legally: You should always pay her the right salary as per her job responsibilities. You are also responsible for paying her taxes, insurance, and other statutory expenses. So, keep these things always in mind before deciding her pay. You are also obliged to pay her bonus and salary growth on right time. If you keep the salary below than minimum wages or offer a salary     which is not enough for the duties she is being hired, then there are chances you may start searching a new nanny very soon.
  4. No Verification means a Big Problem: Verification is necessary to employ a right person for childcare. Screening and background check are not enough. Do not trust easily on the references they provide you. You should also cross-verify the references they have provided you. You can also ask their past employers about their experience with that nanny. You can ask her several questions about her skills, qualifications, and certifications.
Avoid such basic mistakes and consider these simple points. These steps are enough to hire a nanny whom you can rely.
